GOP 2016 Prez Nominee Wannabes: The Top 10

Thank you for putting together the first episode of GOP 2016 Candidate Talk Time! I was very pleased with its entertainment value. While your team asked some excellent questions, I’m writing to suggest you tweak your format a little bit, so that actual answers will be provided to the viewers.

Politicians always do it, right? They don’t answer the questions asked. They take the time given to them to talk about how their dad was a farmer, or how they didn’t listen to the people of their state and fought a recall.

It would be great if for the next debate, you posed every question as yes or no on an issue. When you call on a candidate to respond, if the first word out of his (or her) mouth is not “yes” or “no” – they are immediately cut off. If the candidate answers “yes” or “no” – they are given 30 seconds (or whatever budgeted time period) to speak (preferably about why they answered the way they did, but if they choose to talk about walking uphill barefoot to school, they’re entitled to do whatever they want with their time).

Also, I think it would benefit the nation if you would disqualify any candidate from future debates if they lie about their background. It’s one thing to mix up a date from childhood, but claiming you were appointed U.S. attorney the day before September 11th, when you took office 4 months later, should not be tolerated. However, because he stands no chance and is kinda funny, if you wanna keep him around, I understand.

Sincerely,

Rachel L. Arbeit
